PM Shehbaz Pledges Federal Support for KP Flood Relief
As devastating KP flood relief fund continue to strike Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government has released a substantial Rs800 million relief fund to support all affected districts—alongside an additional Rs500 million earmarked specifically for the worst-hit Buner district, according to the PDMA report issued Monday.
The recent KP flood relief fund have claimed at least 325 lives and injured 156 individuals across the province, contributing to 657 rain-related deaths nationwide since late June.
Buner suffered the most significant casualties, with 217 fatalities and 120 injuries, followed by Shangla, where 36 people died and 21 were injured, and widespread structural damage including dozens of destroyed homes and schools.
Other affected districts include Mansehra and Bajaur—each with 24 and 21 deaths respectively—Swat (17 fatalities), Lower Dir, Battagram, and Nowshera, where flooding and roof collapses resulted in additional losses.KP flood relief fund Dawn
At a federal task force meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif pledged support, committing one month’s cabinet salary to relief efforts and instructed all federal ministries to provide material and logistical aid. Emphasis was placed on restoring critical infrastructure, deploying medical teams, and expanding relief camp operations.
