B4U Scam Victims Get Relief as NAB Distributes Compensation
B4U scam victims have started to receive much-needed relief as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) rolled out compensation payments to those affected by the notorious B4U fraud. This major phase of restitution comes in response to one of Pakistan’s most far-reaching online Ponzi schemes. ARY NEWSApp
In a ceremony at NAB headquarters in Islamabad, Chairman NAB Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Nazir Ahmed presided over the distribution of cheques to 17,500 victims—a milestone in the pursuit of justice for those who suffered financial losses. App
The B4U scam, orchestrated by Saif-ur-Rehman and accomplices, promised unrealistically high returns—up to 7% per month—resulting in billions of rupees collected from unsuspecting investors via shell companies. NAB launched its investigation in February 2021, following mounting complaints and an alert from SECP. To date, NAB has recovered Rs 7.3 billion, of which Rs 3.7 billion has already been paid out to victims. About 10,000 people received full compensation, while 7,500 others were reimbursed 40% of their losses, with the remainder to be settled within six months after liquidation of seized assets. During the event, Chairman NAB reemphasized the bureau’s commitment to focusing on public welfare cases and returning looted funds swiftly. He also urged citizens to exercise careful evaluation before investing in any schemes. As a token of appreciation, an “Umrah package” was announced for NAB’s Rawalpindi/Islamabad team that led the recovery effort. AppPakistan Observer
Looking ahead, NAB plans to streamline compensation through direct bank transfers, eliminating the need for victims to physically visit NAB offices for collection. App
The relief extended to 17,500 B4U scam victims represents a significant step in restoring trust and delivering justice. Yet it also serves as a warning: the importance of vigilance and thorough due diligence before investing cannot be overstated.
