ISLAMABAD, Aug 29, 2025 — Petrol costs in Pakistan are likely to see a downward revision starting September 1, bringing much-needed relief to the public.

According to initial calculations shared by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol may be reduced by around Rs 0.61 per litre. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel (HSD) is expected to see a more significant cut of Rs 3.13 per litre.

Similarly, the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil (LDO) are projected to fall by Rs 1.57 and Rs 2.61 per litre, respectively.

OGRA will officially submit its recommendations to the Petroleum Division on August 31, after which the proposal will be sent to the Prime Minister for final approval. If cleared, the revised prices will take effect from September 1 nationwide.

The adjustment in petroleum prices comes as part of the government’s routine bi-monthly review, which factors in global oil rates and local market conditions.
Minister is expected before implementation on September 1.
