A rare Blood Moon Eclipse captivated millions on Sunday as a total lunar eclipse painted the skies deep red across Asia, Europe, and Africa. The celestial event, lasting from 17:30 GMT to 18:52 GMT, left stargazers in awe of its glowing beauty.
Best viewed in Asia, including India and China, the eclipse was also visible in parts of Africa, western Australia, and briefly across Europe. The Americas, however, missed the event.
Experts explained that the moon appears red during a total lunar eclipse because Earth’s atmosphere scatters shorter blue wavelengths while allowing red light to filter through, casting an eerie yet breathtaking glow.
Unlike solar eclipses, the Blood Moon Eclipse requires no special equipment to observe—just clear skies and an open view. The last total eclipse occurred in March 2025, with the previous one in 2022.
