CHILAS: The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) police have officially banned TikTok usage among their personnel in a decisive move to protect discipline, uniformity, and the dignity of the force, the Information Department confirmed on Monday.

According to a notification from the Inspector General of Police, no GB police officer or official is permitted to use TikTok. District Police Officers and Unit Heads have been instructed to circulate this order across all ranks. The directive also warns that any violation will lead to strict disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, TikTok released its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q1 2025, revealing that nearly 25 million videos were removed in Pakistan for violating platform rules. The report highlighted that 99.4% of these removals were proactive, with 95.8% taken down within 24 hours between January and March 2025.

This crackdown reflects TikTok’s ongoing efforts to ensure safe content moderation while the GB police’s ban reinforces its resolve to maintain integrity within the force.
