Hollywood star Ryan Phillippe praises son Deacon for his dedication and commitment as he steps into the acting world alongside his father.
Speaking to People, the Motorheads actor described his son’s determination: “Honestly, I just wake up every day and try to be the best person I can. I couldn’t do any of it without God, and I work my butt off,” said Deacon. Phillippe added with pride, “He’s got his mama’s work ethic. He absolutely does.”
Phillippe, best known for Cruel Intentions, shares children Ava and Deacon with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, both of whom are now pursuing acting careers. In Amazon Prime’s Motorheads, Phillippe and Deacon star as brothers in a coming-of-age drama about outsiders bonding over automobiles in a Rust Belt town.
Reflecting on working with his son, Phillippe revealed he embraced his role as a “set dad”: “I didn’t mind being set dad for the days that he was there. I would get him a snack from craft services or bring him a coffee if he needed it.”
Earlier in March 2024, Phillippe addressed the ongoing nepotism debate, telling Extra: “So many people end up doing what their parents do, to some degree. These kids grew up watching on set with Reese or me—it seems natural.”
