Govt confirms petrol price hike Pakistan before Sept 16

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is preparing a petrol price hike Pakistan, with petroleum prices expected to rise by up to Rs4.79 per litre from September 16, according to official sources.

Sources said petrol itself may go up by Rs1.54 per litre, while other petroleum products could also face significant increases.

High-Speed Diesel (HSD) prices are projected to rise by Rs4.79 per litre, kerosene oil by Rs3.06 per litre, and light diesel by Rs3.68 per litre, making this one of the sharpest adjustments of the year.

The petrol price hike Pakistan summary will soon be sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for approval. After clearance, the Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of Finance will jointly announce the new rates, which will take effect from September 16, 2025.

Officials say this adjustment is part of the government’s regular fortnightly pricing review aimed at keeping up with global market trends.
