Indus River Flood Alert highlights rising danger at Guddu Barrage.
SUKKUR:
The Indus River Flood Alert is intensifying as the water level at Guddu Barrage has surged beyond six lac cusecs, according to the barrage control room. This marks one of the season’s most powerful water flows, with inflows and outflows recorded at 612,269 and 582,942 cusecs respectively.
At Sukkur Barrage, inflow and outflow have also spiked to 488,890 and 438,399 cusecs respectively, while at Kotri Barrage, downstream readings stood at 274,129 and 261,399 cusecs.
Sindh’s information department confirmed a sharp drop at Punjnad, where today’s flow was 459,963 cusecs compared to yesterday’s 575,195 cusecs.
The rising water has completely inundated the katcha area of Kandhkot, submerging hundreds of acres of cotton, rice, and other crops. Breaches have appeared in Zamindari Bund near Darbelo, allowing floodwater to enter villages including Hashim Sial and Tunia in Naushahro Feroz district, cutting off land links to the city.
Roads, farmlands, and surrounding infrastructure remain under floodwater as authorities issue fresh warnings for residents to stay alert.
