24 Pakistanis safe after LPG tanker attacked in Yemen

An LPG tanker attacked in Yemen by an Israeli drone left 27 crew members, including 24 Pakistanis, in grave danger before their safe release.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the strike occurred on September 17 while the vessel was docked at Ras Issa port, under Houthi control. The drone attack caused an LPG tank to explode, sparking a fire that the crew managed to extinguish. Soon after, Houthi boats intercepted the tanker and held the sailors hostage.

Naqvi announced on Saturday that the crew has now been freed and is safely out of Yemeni waters. The Foreign Office also confirmed that the Pakistanis were “safe and sound,” adding that embassies in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen coordinated efforts to secure their release.

Officials praised the swift diplomatic action that ensured the safety of all crew members, including two Sri Lankans and one Nepali
