Govt Unveils Hajj Relief Policy for Registered Pilgrims

ISLAMABAD: The government has rolled out a Hajj relief policy for registered pilgrims who, due to illness, death, or other compelling reasons, cannot perform the sacred journey.

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, if a registered pilgrim is severely ill or passes away, a family member will be allowed to perform Hajj in their place. Alternatively, pilgrims unable to travel may either nominate someone else or claim a refund.

The ministry stated that documentary proof of illness or death will be mandatory, along with stamped papers, bank receipts, and identity card copies to validate the claim.

Officials clarified that the reason for withdrawal must be formally recorded and submitted to the authorities.

This announcement comes as more than 400,000 people initially registered for Hajj 2025, while around 71,000 applied with the first installment ranging from Rs500,000 to Rs550,000, depending on the package.
