Asif Ali Zardari calls for an economic mindset to boost Pakistan-China ties.
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for Pakistan to embrace an economic mindset instead of a martial one, emphasizing that sustainable growth and development are the only way forward.
In an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN) during his visit to China, President Asif Ali Zardari praised Beijing’s remarkable journey of progress and the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” between Pakistan and China.
The president highlighted five powerful lessons from China: respect for sovereignty, economic cooperation, people-to-people ties, technology-driven agriculture, and renewable energy expansion. He also lauded President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative for promoting mutual respect among nations.
Zardari admired China’s advances in solar, wind, and hydrogen energy, suggesting Pakistan could adopt similar models. He also proposed a high-speed rail project connecting Karachi and Hyderabad, which could cut travel time from 2.5 hours to just 20 minutes.
He stressed that Pakistan’s proximity to China offers strategic and economic opportunities through CPEC, creating jobs, boosting trade, and strengthening regional connectivity.
“Pakistan needs an economic mindset, not a martial one,” President Zardari reiterated.
