Skipper Litton Das’s decision to bat first paid off as opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim starred with a quick 52 off 31 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes. Partnering with Saif Hassan, the duo gave Bangladesh a solid 63-run start before Rashid Khan broke through in the 7th over.
The middle order added crucial runs with Towhid Hridoy scoring 26 off 20 balls, while Jaker Ali and Nurul Hasan contributed unbeaten cameos of 12 runs each.
For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad claimed two wickets apiece, while Azmatullah Omarzai picked one.
This clash holds high stakes as Bangladesh, currently third in Group B with two points from two games, must win to remain in contention for a Super Four spot.
