ISLAMABAD: On the 60th anniversary of Defence and Martyrs Day, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs and their families, calling their sacrifices a powerful source of inspiration for future generations.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan commemorated September 6 with solemn respect, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security and standing shoulder to shoulder with the people in times of need.
In a unified statement, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Air Chief, and Naval Chief praised the unmatched bravery of the soldiers who defended the country during the 1965 war, describing the day as a symbol of national unity and courage.
“Our forces stood like an unbreakable wall against enemy aggression, backed by a united nation,” the message declared, emphasizing that any future hostility would face an instant and crushing response.
Alongside national defence, the military leadership assured continued support for citizens, particularly flood-affected communities, highlighting the Armed Forces’ long-standing tradition of humanitarian service.
Defence and Martyrs Day is marked nationwide with deep reverence for all martyrs—from 1947 to the ongoing fight against terrorism—whose sacrifices illuminate Pakistan’s journey toward peace and stability.
ISPR concluded with a resounding message: “Long live Pakistan.”
