The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced a bold transformation plan, aiming to modernize Pakistan’s tax system.
Chairman Rashid Mahmood shared the plan with business leaders, focusing on three key areas: people, technology, and processes. Around 1,600 auditors will be hired on merit, trained at top institutions, and rewarded through a performance system.
On the tech side, is introducing digital monitoring in major industries and using AI audit triggers to ensure transparency. The Faceless Customs Appraisement system has already boosted revenue collection and cut clearance delays.
The reforms were welcomed by business leaders, who said the FBR transformation plan will broaden the tax base and reduce the burden on compliant taxpayers.
