Fox News Gaffe sparks outrage after GoFundMe mistake
Fox News host Dana Perino suffered a shocking on-air gaffe during a live broadcast of America’s Newsroom when she mistakenly promoted a GoFundMe for a man accused of murder, rather than the victim.
Perino and her guest were covering the tragic death of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was fatally stabbed on a commuter train in Charlotte, North Carolina. As the segment concluded, Perino began directing viewers to what she thought was a fundraiser for Zarutska. Instead, it was a GoFundMe page supporting the accused killer, DeCarlos Brown Jr.
Realizing the error mid-sentence, Perino corrected herself but appeared flustered as the broadcast cut to the fundraising page. She then explained that GoFundMe would remove the campaign, which had only raised five dollars before being flagged.
The gaffe quickly went viral, with critics calling it one of Fox News’ most embarrassing live moments in recent months.
