Gaza Peace Plan Secures Strong Pakistan Support
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump announced that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir have given their “100 percent” backing to a US-brokered peace proposal aimed at ending the nearly two-year-long Gaza war.
Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump highlighted that negotiations were “beyond very close” to finalizing a deal. He said the proposed 20-point plan ensures Israel will not annex or occupy Gaza, while aiming to secure lasting peace.
Trump noted growing regional consensus, with Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar also supporting the framework. He stressed that even Pakistan and Indonesia, which do not recognize Israel, had endorsed the initiative.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment on X, calling the plan essential for political stability and economic growth in the Middle East. He praised Trump’s leadership and urged swift implementation of the two-state solution as the foundation for durable Gaza peace plan.
