ISLAMABAD: The Indus River flood situation has intensified as water levels continue to rise at Guddu and Sukkur barrages. According to the Flood Forecasting Division, the river is in high flood at Guddu Barrage, posing serious concerns for nearby regions.
At Guddu Barrage, the water inflow has reached 513,600 cusecs, while the outflow stands at 481,400 cusecs. Meanwhile, Sukkur Barrage is witnessing a medium flood, with 422,000 cusecs inflow and 370,700 cusecs outflow.
Downstream at Kotri Barrage, the Indus River is flowing below low flood levels, recording an inflow of 170,300 cusecs and an outflow of 163,300 cusecs.
On the upstream side, the Indus River is running below flood levels at Tarbela, Kalabagh, Chashma, and Taunsa headworks. Currently, the Tarbela Dam has reached 99.20% of its maximum capacity with a water level of 1549.20 feet against its limit of 1550 feet. On the other hand, Mangla Dam is at 75.73% capacity, with the water level standing at 1218.70 feet compared to its maximum of 1242 feet.
The situation calls for vigilance and preparedness as water levels continue to surge in key barrages.
