The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered Justice Jahangiri Barred to cease performing judicial duties until the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) concludes its inquiry into allegations that he holds a fake law degree. SAMAA TV+1
A two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Azam Khan, issued the suspension on Tuesday. They also appointed Barrister Zafarullah Khan and former Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf as amici curiae (court-appointed advisors) to assist in the case. Aaj English TV+1
According to reports, the University of Karachi and its exam bodies have pointed out discrepancies: Justice Jahangiri apparently used two different enrollment numbers for his LL.B degree. One enrollment number was reportedly allocated originally to someone else.
