Kartarpur Floods , Pak Army Rescues Stranded Families
The Pakistan Army has launched urgent rescue operations in Kartarpur Floods, Punjab’s Narowal district, after the Ravi River overflowed and flooded the area. Around 300 residents were evacuated from the town, which is home to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, one of Sikhism’s holiest sites where Guru Nanak spent his final years.
Historic Gurdwara Underwater
Social media footage revealed Gurdwara Darbar Sahib submerged in floodwaters, sparking global concern among Sikh communities. The Kartarpur Corridor, inaugurated in 2019 to allow Indian Sikh pilgrims visa-free access, now faces severe damage due to ongoing floods.
Monsoon Toll Rising Across Pakistan
Flooding in the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers has forced mass evacuations across Punjab. According to officials, the monsoon season has claimed more than 800 lives since June 26, making it one of the deadliest in recent years. Authorities warn the flooding could rival the catastrophic 2022 floods that killed 1,700 people and caused over $30 billion in losses.
