The renowned actress shared her concerns on Instagram, stressing that if well-known actors and directors face payment delays, the challenges for behind-the-scenes staff are even more severe. She emphasized the need for professionalism and fairness in the industry, where crew members often wait months to receive their dues.
Mahira’s statement echoes similar complaints made by prominent figures like Mehreen Jabbar, Mohammed Ahmed, Ahmed Ali Butt, Ramsha Khan, Nadia Afgan, Yasir Hussain, and Alizeh Shah. Many of them revealed that working in the drama and production sector does not guarantee financial stability, as delayed payments have become a recurring issue.
Director Mehreen Jabbar criticized the lack of accountability, noting that despite the entertainment sector’s massive popularity and audience growth, its workforce continues to be exploited. Actor Mohammed Ahmed described the situation as humiliating, where asking for payments feels like “begging,” with promised timelines of 60–90 days rarely honored.
