BREAKING NEWS (PTI LAUNCHES LAWYERS MOVEMENT—August-10-2025):
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) veteran and ex-Speaker Asad Qaiser declared today that the party is rolling out a forceful Lawyers Movement against the possible 27th Constitutional Amendment, branding it as a serious threat to democratic integrity.
Although the federal government officially rejected the proposed amendment last month—primarily speculated to expand provincial powers—the campaign has now gained renewed momentum. Qaiser underlined that PTI will also consult legal experts regarding the already-controversial 26th Amendment, which the party had vehemently opposed and walked out on during the National Assembly vote in October 2024 Geo News.
He delivered this pronouncement flanked by TTAP leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai and ex-Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair Umar. Qaiser criticized the political environment, arguing that “the current system is neither legal, nor constitutional, nor democratic”—and vowed that the opposition alliance will harness every available platform—including courts, parliament, and mass mobilization—to combat what he deemed oppression and injustice
Qaiser further denounced the disqualification of PTI lawmakers, accusing the government of transforming the National Assembly into a puppet theatre controlled by administrative pressure. He also raised concerns about the treatment of parliamentarians, particularly their public humiliation outside Adiala Jail and the denial of prison-visiting rights granted under parliamentary rules
Achakzai chimed in, cautioning that any meddling with the Constitution would shake the very foundation of Pakistan, while Zubair echoed public frustration and dismissed claims that the country was on the brink of financial collapse as baseless Geo News.
