The Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected the petition filed by independent MPA Sibtain Khan Bhachar challenging his disqualification. Bhachar, who won as an independent candidate during the recent elections, was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for submitting a false affidavit.
In his plea, Bhachar argued that the disqualification decision was unlawful and requested the court to overturn the ECP ruling. However, the LHC upheld the commission’s decision, dismissing his petition.
The judgment reinforces the ECP’s authority to act against candidates found guilty of misrepresentation or providing misleading information in their nomination paper.
