Sindh Govt Responds to Monsoon Alert with 5 Key Measures
KARACHI (August 18, 2025): With early monsoon alert showers already hitting parts of the city, the Sindh government is ramping up preparedness. Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani affirmed that all necessary precautionary arrangements are in place to address the approaching heavy rains.DawnDaily Times
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), light rainfall has been recorded in Surjani Town (2.4 mm), Gulshan-i-Maymar and Korangi (1.5 mm each), and Faisal Airbase (1 mm), along with trace amounts in areas like University Road and Nazimabad. The PMD has also issued a broader forecast predicting widespread rain and thunderstorms across Sindh until August 22, including isolated moderate to heavy downpours in cities such as Hyderabad, Sukkur, Thatta, and Mirpurkhas.
In response, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired an emergency session, placing local councils, administration, and traffic police on high alert to ensure swift coordination. Recommendations also include mobilizing resources and targeting low-lying, flood-prone areas
