NDMA Flood Response in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Worst-Hit Region
Nearly 400 people have lost their lives, and over 6,900 individuals have been rescued amid the latest wave of deadly monsoon rains in northern Pakistan, including severe flooding, landslides, and cloudbursts.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) revealed that 356 fatalities occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)—the hardest-hit province—adding to ongoing rescue and relief efforts across the region.Arab News PK
Since the monsoon season began on June 26, the death toll in Pakistan has risen to around 670.
NDMA flood response and military officials stated that eight infantry units and eight Frontier Constabulary (FC) units are actively involved in search, rescue, and flood-relief operations. Continued efforts have resulted in 6,903 rescues, with over 6,300 people receiving medical treatment.
Establishing logistics hubs in Kanju and Daggar, authorities are supplying critical assistance, including tents, food, and medicine, via airlift to remote flood zones.
Information Minister Ataullah Tarar added that 70% of electricity has been restored in regions like Buner, Shangla, Swat, and Bajaur, where infrastructure suffered heavy damage. Additionally, the N-90 highway has been reopened following clearance of blockades.
With more than 1,200 tents, 3,000 kg of medicine, and 40 tons of food distributed, over 500 medical camps are now operational in the devastated areas.Arab News PK
