Aurangzeb pledges swift Pakistan flood relief for victims
ISLAMABAD – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has pledged swift Pakistan flood relief measures, assuring rapid assistance to families hit by recent floods. He revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and federal ministers are directly overseeing the emergency response, while a special committee is tackling inflation after the disaster.
During a visit to Mil Fatyana Bridge and a flood relief camp with former Advocate General Mustafa Ramday and ASP Muazur Rahman, Aurangzeb inspected facilities and directed officials to speed up rehabilitation measures. Assistant Commissioner Iqra Nasir briefed him on the ground situation.
The finance minister stressed Pakistan’s economy is stabilizing and attracting foreign investment, adding that facilitation for traders and investors remains a government priority.
Aurangzeb acknowledged the hardship of paying electricity bills in flood-hit areas and promised prompt rehabilitation. He noted fuel prices are declining, “imported inflation is not an issue,” and damage assessments will be ready within 15 days.
He described the scale of the ongoing Pakistan flood relief operation as unprecedented, saying roads, bridges, houses and infrastructure must be rebuilt quickly so the next crops can be planted.
