PTA Confirms Pakistanis Data Dark Web Leak at Rs500

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman Major General (R) Hafeez-ur-Rehman has confirmed a powerful disclosure, revealing that Pakistanis Data Dark Web listings are available for as little as Rs500.

Addressing the Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecommunication chaired by Senator Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan, the PTA chief said the leaked information includes CNIC copies, travel histories, and mobile SIM records.

He noted that while SIM data is maintained separately by each telecom company, it has inexplicably ended up on the dark web, calling the situation “alarming.”

The PTA further revealed that even Hajj applicants’ personal data has been compromised. Officials are now analyzing whether this involves older information or a recent breach.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) is actively investigating to track the source of the breach and ensure accountability.
