Maryam Hails CCD in “Zero-Crime Province” Revolution

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has lauded the establishment of the Crime Control Department (CCD), saying it represents a bold step in her vision to transform Punjab into a Zero-Crime Province

In a special meeting, she was briefed on CCD’s mandate, which includes combating seven categories of organized crime such as murder, rape, land grabbing, armed robbery, and gangster syndicates. She emphasized that state-of-the-art technology would be deployed—such as drone surveillance capable of reaching crime scenes within minutes—to ensure swift action. The News+1

Zero-Crime Province Key appointments for CCD leadership were also approved: an Additional Inspector General will head the unit, assisted by DIGs, SSPs, and SPs at divisional and district levels. The department will initially include over 4,200 personnel, some of whom will be transferred from the Punjab Police. The News

Maryam affirmed that resources must not constrain the CCD’s mission, asserting that the new body would instill fear among criminal elements and dramatically reduce the crime rate. She also vowed to fast-track legislation for the formal legal status of CCD. The News+1
